God’s Solution for Discouragement
I Peter 5:7/Psalm 55:22/Philippians 4:6-7/I Kings 19:5-18

Have you been discouraged lately?
Yes, even folks in the Bible were discouraged.
Discouragement is a serious problem each Christian must deal with at some time.
We don’t want to be discouraged, but our human nature makes life difficult in the midst of trials.
Does God have a solution?   He sure does!
How did God encourage Elijah when he was at his lowest point?
Take a look at I Kings 19.

1. God spoke to him. (vv.5,7,9) If there’s ever a time when we need to hear from God, it’s when we’re discouraged. Count on God to speak to you.
2.God provided for him. (vv.5-7) God is so practical. Elijah needed rest and refreshment. Exhaustion and weakness often cause discouragement. Consider your life. What do you need right now? Whatever it is, God is willing and able to meet your need. Jehovah-Jireh….
3. God understood him. (v.7b) Some of our worst discouragement arises from the feeling that no one understands. Remember,
God always understands!
4.God directed him. (vv.9-18) When you lack direction, you get discouraged. Elijah thought he was all alone. By giving him direction, God lifted his burden. Perhaps you’re discouraged because you aren’t sure what to do next. Let God give you direction, and He will lift your burden, too.

Meditate on these verses:

I Peter 5:7  “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you”

Psalm 55:22 “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved”

Philippians 4:6-7 “ Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
