In God We Trust – Day Twenty-Seven

The upcoming election is vitally important for the future direction of our country. We must fervently pray, asking God to raise up leaders in this election who stand for justice and morality, men and women who seek God’s will in every area of their lives.

America continues to erode morally, ethically, financially, and spiritually. Having Godly leaders in our highest state and federal positions can help slow the erosion of religious liberties in America, thereby providing an increased window of opportunity for the Church to pray, to teach, and to evangelize the world. The Bible commands us to pray for those in leadership, undoubtedly that includes those who are vying to become leaders. “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty” (1 Tim 2:1-2).

Leaders who seek God’s will and who lead according to Biblical standards can bring great blessing to any nation. “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34). All political leaders, and especially the president, are greatly influenced by their party, either Democrat or Republican, as well as the advisors they surround themselves with. The future direction of our country is a direct correlation of who those advisories are, and how they counsel the president. “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14).

Time is short – pray, fast, know where the candidates stand on important issues, and how they measure up to Biblical standards, then go vote! Also pray for our nation to turn to God, that America would see a great revival!

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12).
