IT’S STILL THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD

The Christmas Season is here! For most people “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” The song that bears that name, first released in 1963 by Andy Williams, is a celebration and description of the activities associated with the Christmas season. There are parties, family and friends get-togethers, plays, musicals, and more. Other popular Christmas songs are: “The Christmas Song” (Nat King Cole 1946), “White Christmas” (Bing Crosby 1941), and “Jingle Bells” (1857). Music has always been a vital part of the Christmas season, and the stories they tell are endless. However, for those of us as Christians, the story of the season that needs to be told is not of snow, wrapped presents, family events, or marshmallows, but of a loving God who took on human flesh to save our souls. Without doubt, IT’S STILL THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD! That song title, written by Bill and Gloria Gaither, aptly tells the wonderful story of Christmas.
“A woman and an angel, a promise and a song;
A Word to grand for any mind to hold.
A tax law and a journey, a stable and some straw; These tell the greatest story ever told.
Oh, sing glory in the highest!
He is come, our great Messiah.
Come, bow before this awesome mystery! Mighty God and fragile Baby,
Here a lowly manger holds,
And it’s still the greatest story ever told.
A hillside and some shepherds, a blaze of blinding light; Angels singing carols in the cold!
Eternal revelation to men as dull as stone,
The glorious, greatest story ever told!
Oh, sing glory in the highest!
He is come, our great Messiah.
Come, bow before this awesome mystery! Mighty God and fragile Baby,
Here a lowly manger holds,
And it’s still the greatest story ever told.”

Yes, IT’S STILL GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD! That story can be told thru hundreds of songs, musicals, and plays. But it is best told through the lives of Godly Christians who live pure, undefiled lives before others, and who take the time to audibly tell others about Him! This could be the greatest Christmas season ever for a coworker, neighbor or friend, who comes to know Jesus Christ as Savior as a result of your reaching out to tell them!
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child” (Luke 2:11, 17).

Would you earnestly pray for opportunities to share the gospel with someone this Christmas season? “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16).
