Lovingkindness > Life

Think about your best day ever. Maybe it was your wedding day or the day of your child’s birth. It could have been a championship win or a huge promotion. Maybe it was when you bought your first car or when you signed that last dotted line for your first home. In any case, think about the pure joy you experienced at the time. You were probably smiling from ear to ear. You spread the word to as many people as you could. Maybe your family threw a party for you. Your friends sent their best wishes to you on Facebook. It was simply the Best. Day. Ever.

What if I told you that there was something better than that? Something more lasting than event-based joy. Something more meaningful than an ear-to-ear smile. Something definitely worth sharing with family and friends.

Psalm 63:3 says that God’s lovingkindness is far better than life. Far better than anything we can have on this earth. Far better than your best day. And because God’s lovingkindness is better than life, our lips should praise Him. Psalm 63:4 goes on to say: “Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.” With this life we have and every breath we take, let us make sure to bless and praise God. The word “bless” in this verse literally means “to kneel”, essentially the act of bowing our knee in the presence of an almighty God. We must acknowledge how perfect and holy He is; He is truly deserving of all our praise and more.

Do we praise God enough? Do we smile because of how good God has been? Do we talk about His lovingkindness with our families and friends? While this life offers amazing experiences, God’s lovingkindness is better than it all. So, let’s bless Him and praise Him while we live!
