History.com recounts that the California Gold Rush was sparked by the discovery of gold nuggets in the Sacramento Valley in 1948. It was unquestionably one of the most significant events to shape the early 19th century.
As the price of gold continues to increase in the 21st century, Psalm 19 includes four verses that describe six invaluable truths about God that far exceed the value of gold.
v. 7- The LAW of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the TESTIMONY of the Lord is sure making wise the simple.
v. 8 – The STATUTES of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the COMMANDMENT of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
v. 9 – The FEAR of the Lord is clean, enduring forever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
v. 10 – More to be desired are they than gold, yea than much fine gold . . .
At over $1,950 an ounce, the price of gold is at a premium. It is an extremely valuable precious metal, and many would consider it to be a wise investment. Yet, as is true of earthly investments, their temporal nature fluctuates in value.
In a materialistic, self-centered society, may the child of God invest wisely in serving One whose character never changes. He is always the same. The Everlasting Savior, Redeemer of mankind, and King of kings is far more valuable than gold!
