Don’t Run. Rest!

Don’t Run. Rest!

“Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.” Psalms 3:1-5

King David had been running for his life and was now surrounded by more than 10,000 soldiers whose orders were to kill him. These soldiers were traitors, men from David’s army who had now given their loyalty to David’s most feared enemy, his own son Absalom. How could David rest under such awful circumstances? He could rest because he understood that God was his shield and would protect him. We, like David, will encounter many enemies in our life. Your enemy may be your sin, a bad habit, a coworker, your boss, health issues, and sometimes a friend or even a close family member. When you are being pursued by your enemy don’t blame God, seek Him! If you do this, then you will be able to lie down and sleep in peace, because you know God will watch over you. There is no need to ever be afraid, because God is our protector. He always looks after His children; He will never stop looking after us.
