It’s the season for the yellow powder that covers our cars and fills the air – pollen! For those with allergies, it brings itchy, watery eyes, sneezing, coughing and other dreadful reactions. Though all humankind loves Spring, probably no one enjoys the process that brings it and pollen that signifies its inception.
However, without this process called pollination our whole ecosystem would fall apart. Plant based foods which require the pollen transferred by pollinators would cease along with a $10 billion per year agricultural industry. In short, pollen is indicative of life and brings the continuance of life!
This time of year should remind all of us that every season of life has its beauty and its blights. The delight of a new-born baby is a consequence of “pollination” realized through an uncomfortable time of labor and delivery. The development of strong bones and muscles accompanies growth pains and self imposed exercise and workout regimens. The qualities of patience, endurance and mercy are strengthened only as one passes through their own personal pain and suffering. Even the loving chastening of the Lord is for us, difficult, but it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness (Hebrews 12:11).
So for this pollen – it’s tough, but it will pass and afterwards, new life, new growth and a fresh start!
