You Are A Masterpiece

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).piece

The word workmanship is “the art or skill of a workman.” The same word can also be translated as “masterpiece”. For centuries the “Mona Lisa” has been recognized as the greatest work of art in the world. That masterpiece, completed in the early 1500s, took Leonardo Da Vinci four years to complete. Great care has been taken to preserve and protect it for the past 500 years. It now hangs in a museum in Paris for all to see.

Christians are God’s masterpiece, the very work of his hands. He skillfully created us in his own image, and continues to work on us, but not for the purpose of being looked at or admired. It is for the purpose of doing good works, of bearing much fruit. Our museum is the world around us. Others should see the beauty of Christ in us through our speech, our behaviors, our relationships, and good works. We are an ever-changing work of art on display in this world for His glory. Don’t hide His masterpiece; showcase it to the world today!

Additionally, great care should be taken to protect and preserve His masterpiece, His work of art. We should never treat ourselves or others with disrespect or as inferior.  “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another” (Rom 12:10).

There are numerous hurting Christians all around us. Some are hurting physically, some emotionally and some spiritually. They may need to be reminded that they too are a masterpiece in progress, an ongoing work of the greatest artist ever, God Almighty. Don’t delay, reach out to them today!

“You are a masterpiece, sewn together by the hands of an almighty God.” -Unknown
